To KiLL A MoCKiNGBiRD
REPoRTER FRoM GRoUP 17
Q: Hello. I’m a reporter from group 17. What’s your name?
A: My name is Jean Louise Finch, but you can call me Scout, that's what everybody calls me.
Q: And how old are you? And what grade are you in?
A: I’m 7 years old and in the 1st grade.
Q: So to you how is it like living in the south? How is the whole weather thing working out?
A: Well it’s ok; I mean this is pretty much the only place I’ve lived in. But the weather is very hot. You can’t do anything around here without having sweat dripping down your back.
Q: So I know your mother passsed away a couple years ago. How did you take that?
A: Well not as bad because I was still little. I think Jem took it a bit harder. We don't really like to talk about it.
Q: Gosh. Im very sorry. But ummm Jem is your brother right?
A: Yup sure is...
Q: Oh ok and who is Atticus?
A:That's my daddy.
Q: So how is school going for you? Do you like it?
A: I guees school is alright, I mean it's not the best all to the fact that my teacher, Miss. Caroline yelled at me just cuz I'm ahead of everybody else.
Q: What do you mean more ahead then everybody else?
A: Oh cus I can kinda read and write. And everybody else is just starting to learn to do all that.
Q: And who teaches you how to do all of that?
A: My daddy. He reads to me every night.
Q: That's nice. So are there any boys that you like or are interested in. A boyfriend maybe?
A: Well there is this one boy. His name is Dill. He's extremely good looking. But he comes to visit me every summer when he stays with his aunt. Were planning to get married soon.
Q: Awww how lovely. Already planning the marriage now aren't we? Well that's all the time we have for today. It was a pleasure talking with you.
A: It was nice talking to you too.
